Dell Laptop Purchase Experience

it was his lucky day with purchase of Dell laptop computer. He has been selecting a laptop for his family. His price range was $ 600 to $ 700. Since he hass purchased three computers from Dell, some time last week,he went to their web site and selected one Inspiron 1420. It has Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0GHz, 14.1 LCD (1440X900), 3 GB memory, and 250 GB hard disk. He thinks it was $ 743 in my shopping cart last night. This is a bit higher price than the one like Toshiba or HP laptops in Best Buy. However, those batteries are not so strong like about 1 hour and 30 minutes or so, but his selection could be alive for about three hours. When he saw the shopping cart last night, it said this discount would expire tomorrow, which is today. he decided to buy it tomorrow.

Next day, when he opened the web site and saw the shopping cart. he was surprised to see the price was $ 663. About $ 80 more discount!! he upgraded the monitor from 1280 X 800 to 1440 X 900 resolution, and the price became $ 713 . It is still cheaper than yesterday. In addition, he had my company discount of 2% from Dell; it ended up about $ 699. He also have 2.0 MP webcam and built-in Bluetooth as well with this laptop. He also have 2.0 MP webcam and built-in Bluetooth as well with this laptop.

Cheap laptop under $500

We know we are in the UK but we like to cater for those across the water, we have an amazingly low priced laptop or notebook as people overseas call it for under $500. The Compaq Presario C302NR is a refurbished laptop that runs like new. This is an affordable and very adaptable laptop for your everyday work or play lifestyle.

The Compaq Presario C302NR refurbished notebook is pretty fast and power with an Intel Celeron M Processor 420 running at 1.6 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 512MB DDR2 and 2048MB of memory. This very cheap laptop also has Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, Video Memory up to 128MB (shared), 60GB 5400RPM (SATA) hard drive, 24X DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive, 15.4 WXGA High-Definition BrightView Widescreen (1280 x 800) Display.
Other features include –• High speed 56k modem• Integrated 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)• Sound Altec Lansing• Pointing Device Touch Pad with dedicated vertical and horizontal Scroll Up/Down pad• Keyboard 101-key compatible• Wireless Connectivity 802.11b/g WLAN

So what about it, do you wish to get you hands on a really good laptop/notebook for under $500? Well here goes –
The Compaq Presario C302NR Refurbished Notebook PC - Total Price: $496.99 WOW
Everex StepNote VA4101M: first Vista-equipped laptop under $500
The barrage of notebooks flying our way with Windows Vista pre-installed and ready to "wow" has included a rather wide range of models and choices, but we've yet to come across a pre-fab unit sporting Microsoft's latest OS and demanded less than $500 -- until now. The Everex StepNote VA4101M is the proud owner of a $498 pricetag, a 15.4-inch WXGA display, and Vista Home under the hood, but what this unit lacks in price, it makes up for in weak componentry. Users will likely be let down by the paltry 1.46GHz Intel Celeron M 410 processor, 512MB of DDR2 RAM, 60GB hard drive, and lack of Bluetooth, but hey, you get what you pay for. Notably, Everex did manage to include a dual-layer DVD burner, 802.11b/g, Ethernet, 56k modem, VGA out, and a trio of USB 2.0 ports. So while you won't buy much horsepower for half a grand these days, Everex's latest StepNote can get your feet wet with Vista without breaking the bank, but waiting on that CPU to catch up with your clicking finger just might negate any value that was here.

One Laptop per Child (OLPC)

The mission of One Laptop per Child (OLPC) is to empower the children of developing countries to learn by providing one connected laptop to every school-age child. In order to accomplish our goal, we need people who believe in what we’re doing and want to help make education for the world’s children a priority, not a privilege.

By: OLPC_Human_Interface_Guidelines

The goal of OLPC is to provide children with new opportunities to explore, experiment, and express themselves. Many children in need of such opportunities have previously had little or no access to computing, and so will be unfamiliar with the laptop and how to interact with it. This will undoubtedly have effects on some aspects of activity development. On the one hand, it means that developers must focus energy into making interfaces discoverable, wholly intuitive, and building metaphors that strengthen and clarify the interface. On the other hand, since the laptop will be the first experience of computing for many children, activities do not have to be overly true to legacy behaviors or expectations. This frees developers to innovate.

The OLPC initiative, by its nature, requires international involvement and participation. Developers must keep in mind the broad range of cultures and languages that the laptops must transcend. In particular, activities should not depend on western icons and modes of thinking, but should abstract ideas to a level that would be familiar to humankind in general, where possible. For instance, consider the camera button on the keyboard. Though one might be inclined to label this key with a small image of a camera and lens, the eye graphic speaks directly to our human capacity for vision, providing a cross-cultural icon that represents the computer's ability to capture what it sees.

exploring
The laptop gives learners opportunities they have not had before. Tools such as a Web browser, rich media player, and e-book reader bring into reach domains of knowledge that are otherwise difficult-or impossible-for children to access.

expressing
The laptop helps children build upon their active interest in the world around them to engage with powerful ideas. Tools for writing, composing, simulating, expressing, constructing, designing, modeling, imagining, creating, critiquing, debugging, and collaborating enable children to become positive, contributing members of their communities.

learning
The laptop takes learners beyond instruction. They are actively engaged in a process of learning through doing. Children also learn by teaching, actively assisting other learners.

resources
The laptop not only delivers the world to children, but also brings the best practices of children and their teachers to the world. Each school represents a learning hub; a node in a globally shared resource for learning.
